From the moment you walk in to this new pan-Asian restaurant, the fitout blows you away. A fantastic use of space that makes each area feel cosy and it’s own, despite the entire venue being rather large. Wakame Dubai’s spaces include a dedicated bar/lounge space, a dining area, beautiful booths for groups and a striking glass encased private room. This was the first tip off that we were going to encounter a high quality experience. The warm natural materials work well with the industrial style, and wait until you check out the beautiful bronze features in the bathrooms.
But on to the food! We had the business lunch which was great value. I had dumplings and chicken yakitori which both pleased. I asked for some Japanese mayo to accompany my yakitori which was speedily brought to our table and this finished it off nicely. I just have to have mayo with my Japanese!
Next came the highly recommended Crispy Eggplant Burrata with Yuzu Truffle sauce. This is a dish I still think about. You must try it. Sounded unusual, but oh my god it’s good. I recommend sharing it with your fellow diners as it is rich! This dish kicked off a burrata obsession for me.
The desserts were great too, often desserts can be a disappointment at Asian restaurants for me, but they had subtly included Asian flavour elements into old school classics. The miso cheesecake was delish and of course you have to try the chocolate fondant that has a hulk-like matcha white chocolate centre. It’s a steal at 125dhs for two appetisers and a main.
I can’t wait to return to try more of the menu. Go there now, you won’t be disappointed!
